Update Moto G to Android L CyanogenMod 12 Custom Firmware

Android 5.0.2 Lollipop finally arrives on Moto G (also known as Motorola Moto G X1032) as Moto G specifications are suitable to receive Android L. Thanks to an unofficial release of CyanogenMod 12.1 ROM. It comes with all the working features as of CM12, and is still a work-in-progress release. Moto G comes with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean but it is officially upgradable to Android L which is not yet released. But CyanogenMod 12 is available to download and install which contain full features of Android L. This ROM has been tested only on XT1032. It should also be fully functional on XT1034 and GPe. CDMA users and XT1033 users are probably going to have a hard time making it a daily Moto G drivers.

Installation steps

Step 1 - Download CyanogenMod 12 Android 5.0.2 ROM for Moto G to your computer. 

Step 2 - Download PA GApps from our selection here: Official Updated PA Google Apps!

Step 3 - Now copy/paste the downloaded Android 5.0.2 ROM zip file to your SD card. Make sure the file is in the SD card root (not in any folder).

Step 4 - Then turn OFF your phone and disconnect from the USB cable.

Step 5 - Now to get in the Recovery Mode.

Step 6 - Once you are in ClockworkMod Recovery, select perform a full data wipe by selecting “wipe data/factory reset”. 

Step 7 - Install the downloaded Android L CyanogenMod 12 ROM  followed by GApps.

Step 9 - After the installation completes, go to “+++++Go Back+++++” and reboot the phone by selecting “reboot system now” from the recovery menu.

Your Moto G will boot now and it might take about 5 minutes to boot on your first time. So, please wait.

That’s it! Your Moto G should now have CyanogenMod 12 Android 5.0.2 Lollipop custom ROM installed on your phone! Go to Settings > About phone to verify.
