Backup your all important data and apps because during any installation of a new custom ROM or Official Firmware , your device will be wiped and cleaned with new operating system. Make a backup for just in case, you never know when anything might go wrong. Read below for some important tips on how to backup Android data in a easy process:
Samsung user can also backup data by using Official Sumsang Kies. If you backup data manually, you will get more options for what to choose from. You can also move your data to other Android devices from different manufacturers, i.e moving Samsung Galaxy S5 backup data to Google Nexus 10. If you already have a custom recovery (ClockworkMod, TWRP etc.) installed on your phone, we strongly recommend a backup using that as it creates a complete image of your existing phone set up.

Few more important things that you must remember before installing any custom ROMs or Official Firmwares:

  • You might face some problems in connecting your Android device to the computer. How to fix? You need to enable USB debugging mode. See here: How to Enable USB Debugging — for Gingerbread, Ice Cream Sandwich and KitKat.
  •  Make sure your Android device is charged up to 80-85% battery level. This might help you: How to Check Battery Percentage.  Why? Because, if your phone goes off suddenly while installing a custom ROM, flashing an official firmware update or installing mods etc. — your phone might get bricked or go dead permanently. No one wants that, right?
  • Most of the tutorials and how-to guides on iDroid Horizon are for factory unlocked Android devices. We recommend NOT to try our guides if your device is locked to a carrier, unless we have specified the device model or carrier name.

Install Minimalistic OnePlus One Boot Logo And Animation

It was really fascinated with the clean front look the OnePlus One had and decided that when the phone booted up, it had to compliment the sleek, black screen with less disturbances such as the white OnePlus logo and the "Powered by Android" when it first boots up. It was also really amazing how CM incorporated the boot logo with the boot animation that made it seemlessly transition to the uncurling of the OnePlus logo.

However, it is not into that kinda thing. If you like the phone to feel professional, with a minimalistic looks in all aspects, XDA designed their boot sequence look, including the logo.bin and the theme apk.

This boot layout is really a hit or miss. If you're not into it after a while just reflash stock logo.img and disable this theme.

What This Pack Includes:

  • Splash Screen Replacement (Overwrites Red/White OnePlus logo with "Powered by Android")
  • Fastboot Logo
  • Boot Animation (Selectable in Theme Engine)

GIF files don't play the full frames per second as intended. Use the GIF below as a reference to how the animation appears, however it cannot compare to the actual speed of the boot animation when it is played on the device.

Requirements:

Installation of Boot Animation

  • Download the app from a Play Store link below.
  • Go to CM11's Theme Engine (On Mahdi it's called "Themes") in Settings then click on "Boot animations"
  • Scroll down to "one" then tick "Boot Animation", then click Update.

Installation Of Boot Logo/Splash Screen

  • Reboot your phone into Fastboot mode (When fully turned off, hold down VOLUME UP + POWER until you see "Fastboot mode")
  • Place "logo.bin" into your fastboot folder (FOUND ON THE PLAY STORE LINK DESCRIPTION!)
  • In the fastboot folder, press Shift + Right click on a blank area. Click on "Open command window here"
  • Type fastboot flash LOGO logo.bin and press enter. After complete type in fastboot reboot .

Downloads:

Open up the description on the Play Store links to get the latest logo.bin files!

NOTE: Remember to set permissions!

Update OnePlus One to Android 5.0 Lollipop Alpha [Official Firmware]

Recently, OnePlus Company asked you to name their ROM. They beyond excited about the response and the sheer number of entries they received. With so many of you on board, OnePlus Company know that they are well on their way to creating the next great ROM in the Android community.

This is the first step in what will become their own custom ROM. It’s so early, in fact, that this build contains no extras beyond the stock features of AOSP Lollipop. It’s the base that they will continue to build upon, improve, and customize as OnePlus stabilize core functionalities on the latest firmware updates.

As OnePlus look towards the official ROM release in the near future, OnePlus will keep to their promise and deliver an experience that is customizable, yet bloat-free with stock Android like simplicity by default; OnePlus wouldn’t ask you to settle for anything less. In the meantime, OnePlus thought you’d appreciate an early community preview and a progress report.
Please be sure to read and follow all of the instructions carefully before installing! While flashing custom ROMS is covered by warranty, any issues that result from doing so are not. Proceed at your own risk.

Step-by-Step Instruction:

Since this is an alpha build with limited testing, please proceed with extreme caution and backup your phone before flashing this build.

You will need to have TWRP recovery installed on your device. If you don’t have it, please follow the instructions on the site to flash recovery onto your device.

The experience is best when you have GMS (Google Mobile Services) installed. If you have GApps package, you can install it after you flash the ROM to have access to all the google services.

This build does not have a built-in recovery so if you do a clean wipe, you may have to reflash TWRP onto your device.

Step 1: Download Oneplus_community.zip and copy the file to your phone. On a Mac, you can use Android File Transfer. If you have TWRP installed, you should see a TWRP folder, and that’s where you want to place the zip.

Step 2: Boot into TWRP recovery. You can do this on your OPO by holding both the volume down and power buttons.

Step 3: Once you are in the recovery interface, the first thing you want to do is go to Wipe and do a factory reset to clean your data, cache, and Dalvik. Note that you will lose all of your files so make sure everything is backed up before continuing.

Step 4: After the wipe, go to install and find the zip you copied to your device and confirm flash. This should flash the ROM to your device.

Step 5: After flash is complete. Clear your cache again. If you have GApps, install it now. Reboot your phone.

Step 6: You should now be booted into the new ROM.

That’s it! Your OnePlus One should now have Android 5.0 Lollipop Alpha Official Firmware installed on your phone!

Notes: [General]

Known issues -
  • Data roaming is on by default. Make sure to turn if off to avoid potential charges.
  • As always, flashing a custom ROM incurs the risk of bricking your phone. Make sure you know what you’re doing and backup everything.
  • Camera and video may be unstable. This build supports 4k video, however quality may be low as we are still fine-tuning the camera.
  • Capacitive keys do not turn off when you enable software keys.
  • Clock crashes periodically.
  • If using the new app pinning feature in L, make sure to turn on the software keys first. Otherwise, you will have to reboot your machine.
  • On first boot, startup time will be a bit slow. Rest assured we will speed things up in the future.
  • Wi-Fi may be unstable.
  • This build is not eligible for OTA updates.
